Updates to Google's AI product, Gemini, which rivals Apple Intelligence, DeepSeek, and ChatGPT from OpenAI, were revealed today.

Google's 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, which is trained to deconstruct inputs into a sequence of steps to enhance its reasoning abilities, is now available to Gemini app users. By displaying its thought process, the new model helps users understand why it reacts in certain ways.

Google is striving to ascertain how the enhanced reasoning capabilities can enable consumers to accomplish more with Google products. Flash Thinking 2.0 can interface with programs such as YouTube, Search, and Google Maps.

Google claims that Gemini 2.0 Pro, the experimental version that is now accessible, is the greatest model to date for coding performance and responding to challenging requests. Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, and the Gemini app for Gemini Advanced subscribers all offer Gemini 2.0 Pro.

For Google AI Studio, there is also a Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite model, which Google claims is the most economical model to date.

The Gemini web and mobile app are launching Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental and 2.0 Pro Experimental. When engaging with the AI, they can be chosen from the Gemini dropdown menu.
