A Price Increase for AppleCare+
Previously, the cost of the Theft and Loss plan included the AppleCare+ Standard plan, which was $7.99 (about Rs. 696 per month) for the base iPhone 16 model in the US. Its price has increased by 50 cents to $8.49 (about Rs. 740). The same is true for the iPhone 16 Pro models, whose AppleCare+ subscriptions used to start at $9.99 (about Rs. 870) but now start at $10.49 (about Rs. 914).
In addition to providing accidental damage protection and 90 days of free technical help, this plan increases the hardware repair coverage for iPhones and other Apple products from the usual one-year period to two years.
Only the membership costs will be affected by the price change; neither the service charge nor the deductibles, which begin at $29 (about Rs. 2,613) for iPhone screen or back glass breakage, will be affected. This increase is consistent with the Cupertino-based tech behemoth's intentions to prioritise a subscription-based business model above one-time purchase choices.
According to a recent report, Apple will soon discontinue allowing customers to purchase AppleCare+ up front at its retail locations for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other Apple products. Customers can currently buy it with a brand-new Apple device or within a specific time frame from the date of purchase from Apple retail locations or on the device, but this might be modified to

Although this move is anticipated to occur later, the business may also eliminate the possibility to buy the subscription directly from the device. Apple customers will therefore need to choose between monthly or yearly contracts.
Only those who purchase the iPhone from the Apple online store will be eligible for a lengthier AppleCare+ plan at the time of purchase.
