The update adds a new function to the iPhone that allows users to minimise distractions by hiding various components that overlay on a web page.

On Monday, Apple made the iOS 18 Developer Beta 5 available for iPhone users. For Apple users, the update includes a few new features, some of which are based on feedback from earlier beta releases. The Photos app's user interface (UI) has been modified to facilitate media access, and the Safari browser has been updated with a new function designed to minimise online page distractions. Along with bug fixes, the update enhances the iPhone's system.

Features of iOS 18 Developer Beta 5

During the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on June 10, Apple unveiled their upgraded Photos app, which featured a new carousel that allowed users to explore daily highlights. Users had mixed reactions when the developer beta was released; some expressed dissatisfaction with the intricacy of the media watching process. With iOS 18 Developer Beta 5, Apple seems to have taken user feedback into consideration by reverting the carousel feature.

Additionally, the update adds a new functionality to Safari that may lessen distractions like on-page advertisements. Hide Distracting Items is a feature that lets you hide various things that overlap on a webpage. It does, however, clearly explain that the concealed sections will reappear if the website is reloaded and that it is not an ad blocker. Additionally, objects must be manually selected; they are not hidden automatically.

Apple claims that the update also includes new dark mode icons for the Maps and Find My applications, which are stock apps. The iPhone Control Center's Cellular Data and Screen Mirroring icons have been adjusted. Additionally, when users tap and hold on the home screen, a new Edit Pages option now shows. screen that allows users to take out specific home screen pages.

Apple also issued the fifth developer betas for iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, and macOS Sequoia beta 5 for its devices, in addition to the release of the iOS 18 Developer Beta 5 update for the iPhone. Later this year, iOS 18 is anticipated to be made available to all iPhone owners.
