The Chinese IT firm Xiaomi, which has a substantial presence in the Indian smartphone sector, may eventually try to get a foothold in the desktop PC market. There are currently a number of laptops available from the Beijing-based startup, and recent disclosures on the Chinese social media platform Weibo indicate that two Windows-based PCs may also be on the way. One of them, apparently called "the Host," will have a small Mini PC design.
The Xiaomi Mini Host PC is expected to include a 100W Power Supply Unit (PSU) and two-slot GPU compatibility, according to a WCCF Tech report. A small form factor (SFF) gadget with a stylish matte black exterior and minimal internals is seen in leaked photographs.
According to the rumour, Xiaomi's alleged PC model would include a barebones kit with no internal hardware other than the PSU, an XM22AL5X unit with a 100W power rating. Images also display the shortcut key Windows+M, indicating that it may function on Windows. There are presently no more information.
The second computer is similarly small in size and is expected to include an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H APU with a Radeon 680M integrated graphics card, 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB solid state drive. According to the article, the second PC model would cost CNY 3,999, or around $575. The price in India, according to a straight conversion of currencies, is little over Rs 47,000.
According to the rumour, Xiaomi was planning to unveil the Host Mini PC on December 1 in China in conjunction with the debut of the Xiaomi 13 series. The event, however, was postponed without any new information on a debut date in the future.
In India, Xiaomi is a significant participant in the smartphone market and is currently a market leader in the field of smart TVs. According to a recent research, the firm led the sector for the third quarter of 2022 with an 11 percent market share. In the laptop market, Xiaomi is also making itself known by providing the Mi Notebook series, Mi Notebook Pro, and Mi Notebook Ultra at various pricing points.
