We introduced a new feature—the capacity to attach a voice note to your status update—in the post about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.5 upgrade. Although the WhatsApp beta for Android is currently being worked on, there is finally some information on the iOS beta today:
The microphone symbol will appear when you don't input any text in this part; otherwise, it implies you're going to a text through status update as normal. As you can see in this picture, it will be possible to publish a voice note up to 30 seconds to your status updates directly with text status. Keep in mind that your voice status updates are always end-to-end encrypted and will only be shared with the individuals you select in your privacy settings.
Even though a voice status on iOS will seem quite similar to the one in the screenshot presented in the article about Android, we are unable to demonstrate it because it is still in the development stage. Additionally, when this feature is made available to beta testers, its design and access point may alter, but we're monitoring the progress and will keep you informed if we see anything different.
In a subsequent version, you'll be able to attach a voice note to your status update. Every time WhatsApp rolls out a new feature to certain beta testers, a new article will be posted on this page.
