At the ninth Google for India event on Monday, Google unveiled a number of new features and initiatives, including its attempts to digitise doctor's prescriptions and extend its search functionality. Users can now add text, screenshots, and images to their search queries using the new Multisearch function from the search engine giant. Google also demonstrated its "Search in video" function, which allows users of mobile devices to conduct searches directly within videos. The business has also announced support for using the Files by Google app on Android to securely access Digilocker documents.
Google revealed an AI and machine learning model that can read handwritten prescriptions at its annual conference. Because they are notoriously difficult to comprehend, medical prescriptions frequently require the assistance of skilled pharmacists. The technology will be helpful in nature and will aid pharmacists in digitising handwritten medical paperwork, according to Google's blog post introducing the tool.
The Google tool can identify and highlight any medications that are listed in the prescription. Users will be able to photograph a prescription and recognise medical data. However, the business noted that no choice will be made solely based on the outcomes of this technology. The feature is now being created.
The business has debuted Multisearch, an addition to the search engine's visual search features. Users of Multisearch will be able to combine text and images in their search queries, according to the Google blog describing the capability.
As Google puts it, "just as you would intuitively point at something and inquire about it," users can utilise the feature by using the Google app camera, taking a photo (or using a screenshot), and adding language to their inquiries. The functionality will be made accessible in additional Indian languages starting with Hindi in 2023. It is now only available in English in India.
Google has also announced support for Digilocker, which makes it simple for Android users to access legitimate digital documents. Users may now view their Digilocker digital documents via the Files by Google Android app. The search engine behemoth claims that the functionality was created in collaboration with the National eGovernment Division (NeGD).
Google also demonstrated a search within video tool during the occasion, tweeting on Monday about the functionality. All video-based search results returned by Google are given a "search in video" button as a result of the functionality. Users may discover exactly what they're seeking for inside the movie by clicking or touching that button and fast-forwarding to the pertinent section.
