Prior to its official introduction, MIUI 14, Xiaomi's Android 13-based operating system upgrade for compatible handsets, appeared on Twitter. On December 1, the OS and the Xiaomi 13 smartphone series were scheduled to be introduced. The debut event, however, has been delayed, and a new date has just lately been disclosed by the corporation. Based on Xiaomi's prior MIUI releases throughout the years, some older Xiaomi devices may also receive the upgrade based on Android 12. The MIUI 14 update will be based on Android 13, though.

Kacper Skrzypek, a contributor for MIUI Polska, tweeted the MIUI 14 changelog, which lists the adjustments to Xiaomi's future skin. The changelog's pictures indicate that MIUI 14 would use less storage space and have a better system design, which will increase performance, battery efficiency, and gameplay quality. According to the changelog, the OS will prioritise security and provide more support for end-to-end privacy features.

According to the leaked picture, users may also anticipate further personalization, including additional widget choices, super icons for a home screen overhaul, and folders that showcase apps for one-tap access. Eight languages are available, and smart features like word recognition in gallery photographs appear to be on the way.

The Mi Smart Hub has undergone a "major makeover," according to the changelog's interconnectivity section, which claims that it will operate more quickly and accommodate more devices. Greater bandwidth allocation is anticipated to improve finding, connecting, and moving objects across phones, tablets, headphones, and TVs, which will improve inter-device communication.

The Xiaomi device ecosystem is also anticipated to receive more attention as a result of the upgrade. The changelog states, "Whenever text input is necessary on your TV, you may get a handy pop-up on your phone and type text there." It is also possible to quickly transfer incoming phone calls to a tablet.

Family sharing similar to that of iOS is also coming, with shared picture albums accessible for a group of up to eight individuals, according to screenshots from the MIUI 14 version changelog. The Mi AI voice assistant now has more features, including the ability to operate as a scanner, translator, and call assistant that blocks spam calls. Other minor upgrades include more comprehensive parental controls and enhanced search options.

After the launch event was postponed on Thursday, there has been no information as of yet regarding an official announcement for the Xiaomi 13 series and MIUI 14. Prior to its official release, the large Chinese manufacturing company had first announced an early access programme for Chinese people to test the OS. When the OS is ultimately released to customers throughout the world, it's important to keep in mind that some of these capabilities could not be accessible to users outside of China.
