On its Android and iOS applications, YouTube has started testing a "Add to Queue" function. Only YouTube Premium users have access to the function for now because it is still being tested. For intended playback, the YouTube mobile apps for iOS and Android have only ever been known to have "Save To Watch Later" and "Save To Playlist" capabilities. These store the video to the user's library, and removing a song from the list requires manual removal. Notably, YouTube's Add To Queue has long been accessible via the online version.
According to a report by 9to5Google, only YouTube Premium users are eligible to test the Add to Queue function on the Android and iOS applications. The menu item will be positioned above the video meta and thumbnail in the three-dot overflow menu.
When a user adds a video to the queue, YouTube will show the videos that are next in line to play in a panel at the bottom of the page. Drag and drop motions on the panel may be used to rearrange the queue, and a swipe left will remove a video from the playlist.
When using the YouTube app on their Android or iOS device, users who are YouTube Premium members and would want to try out the new feature may do so by navigating to the Try New Features area from the profile menu.
A member of the Gadgets 360 crew was able to access the function on their Android phone even though YouTube hasn't featured it on their help page for YouTube on Google Play Store.
At a time when social media firms are coming under growing criticism for their inability to curtail abuse and harassment, the Alphabet-owned video-sharing site recently added stronger spam and abuse detection capabilities to its platform.
