Three years ago, WhatsApp debuted a screen lock function for its Android and iOS beta versions. With the help of this feature, users may now have an extra layer of protection by preventing illegal access to the app when their smartphone is not in use. The screen lock option will be added to a subsequent release of WhatsApp Desktop beta, which is the only way to use this feature since it is not yet accessible on the web/desktop client:
This picture shows that a password is required each time a user uses the application, which is helpful if you share your computer with others. The user will likely have greater control over it by deciding when the programme should require the password, thus note that enabling this feature is optional. Additionally, the password is always kept locally and won't be shared with WhatsApp. If you forget your password, you'll need to log out of the app and re-log in to WhatsApp Desktop by scanning the QR code with your mobile smartphone.
Since this feature is currently in development, certain interface components in the screenshot could be missing. In addition, WhatsApp may have a feature that, in cases where a fingerprint sensor is enabled on a Mac, enables users to lock the application using Touch ID.
The screen lock functionality for WhatsApp Desktop is currently being developed and will be made available in a future software version. As usual, when the functionality is subsequently released to beta testers, an article will be accessible on this page.
