Just consider how significant group chats are growing when WhatsApp extended the maximum number of users in a group to 1024 and added sub-groups for WhatsApp Communities.
Due to this, WhatsApp is currently developing a mute shortcut for group conversations, which will be made accessible in a subsequent WhatsApp Desktop beta update:
As seen in this screenshot, a mute shortcut will appear in the group chat header, making it simpler to turn off alerts for messages received in the group. You should take note that WhatsApp cares about minimising the amount of alerts you receive from group conversations each day. That's why they offered the option to automatically mute notifications for large groups on WhatsApp beta for Android two weeks ago.
The WhatsApp Desktop beta will soon receive an update that will include the group chat mute shortcut. As always, we will update this page with a fresh article if there is news about this feature.
