The Apple Watch software for Audible, the Amazon-owned audiobook streaming service, has just received updates that enhance its features and enable independent usage of the app on smartwatches. Users will be able to stream or download titles from Audible directly to the Apple Watch even if the tethered iPhone is not nearby or connected at the moment thanks to the new app, which enables Audible to operate independently on Apple's watchOS platform. This enables the usage of Audible when a user may have left their iPhone at home and will be especially useful for Apple Watch devices that support LTE.

According to a press statement from the company, the new features include iPhone-free streaming and the ability for the Apple Watch to independently connect to Audible if it has a working data connection.

For offline listening, titles can also be downloaded to the Apple Watch, which is beneficial for models without LTE. Now independently available on the Apple Watch are narration speed control and seamless device synchronisation.

Of course, wireless headphones or earphones are still required for Apple Watch users in order to listen to audiobooks and other content on the smartwatch. It is now possible to use Audible even if you leave your iPhone behind, a feature that has long been available for other apps, such as Apple Music. This is because Audible is no longer dependent on the tethered iPhone.

In India, Audible is a subscription service that costs Rs. 199 per month after a 30-day free trial for new customers. Some of the platform's content can be accessed without a membership for free, but the majority of audiobooks must be bought even after the subscription or redeemed with credits that are made available to subscribers.
