MESSAGE YOURSELF

The ability to open a chat with your own phone number directly from your contacts list was mentioned in the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.24.11 update. Although this is undoubtedly new on Android, you may recall that in earlier versions of WhatsApp for iOS, it was possible to find your phone number in your contacts list. However, since this feature was incompatible with multi-device use, that entry point was removed a few months ago.

The option to start a chat with your own phone number has finally been restored by WhatsApp, and some users can now use it:

Your personal contact could now be available immediately in the contacts list, as seen in this example. When opening this chat, a separate chat caption with the words "Message yourself" appears. Keep in mind that messages sent to this specific chat are always end-to-end encrypted and accessible on all of your connected devices.

Some users who download the most recent version of WhatsApp from the App Store and TestFlight have already started receiving the new chat caption and the ability to open the chat with your own phone number directly from your contacts list. More users will start receiving the changes over the next few days.
