We eventually announced the first information about the upcoming capability of editing messages on WhatsApp beta for Android six months ago. Two months ago, while WhatsApp Desktop beta was being developed, we also found this functionality, and today we have news regarding the iOS app. We learned that WhatsApp is working on providing the same functionality for a future version of the iOS beta app thanks to the most recent WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.73 update that is now accessible on the TestFlight app!
This picture demonstrates how the edit message action appears in the context menu when the feature is forthcoming in an app update. The "Altered" label will be shown in the chat bubble next to every edited message. Additionally, WhatsApp will let users up to 15 minutes after sending a text message to amend it. Since this is the initial iteration of message editing, only text messages will be able to be changed; modifying the captions of photographs, videos, and documents is not yet supported, but we can anticipate a better iteration of the functionality prior to the official launch.
A future upgrade of the app will give certain beta testers access to the ability to alter texts. Since this feature is still in development, we do not yet know when it will be released, but we will post an article on this website as soon as it is.
