We announced information about a brand-new feature under development in the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.8 update: the camera mode. This function would have allowed WhatsApp to overhaul its in-app camera by adding new icons and a photo/video option. Some beta testers can now finally use the new camera mode since the 2.22.24.20 WhatsApp beta for Android update was released!
This snapshot demonstrates how the camera has had a facelift and now offers the opportunity to swiftly switch between photo and video modes. Previous versions of WhatsApp required you to press and hold in order to record a video. With the help of this feature, you can now switch to the video mode without having to tap and hold in order to record a video.
More beta testers have received the new camera mode, and new users will begin receiving it over the next few days.
