After the smartphone manufacturer started teasing the release of the Moto X40, its launch in China is anticipated to happen shortly. The company has stated that it will use Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which was introduced earlier this month, in the launch of its upcoming flagship smartphone. The device's precise debut date has not yet been disclosed. The Moto X40 will be one of the first smartphones to use the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which promises a performance gain of 25% and a power efficiency improvement of up to 45%.

Chen Jin, the Lenovo Group General Manager for Mobile Division, disclosed the Moto X40's AnTuTu benchmark rating in advance of the device's release. The Moto X40 has the highest AnTuTu score of any smartphone to date—13,12,901—according to the screenshot given by Jin (via Weibo). With a score of 12,66,102 on AnTuTu, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC-powered phone also outperforms the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC, which was unveiled on November 8. Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC has a little higher score, there shouldn't be much of a performance difference.

The redesigned cluster configuration of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC could be one of the factors contributing to its improved score. The configuration of the tri-cluster setup changes across the two 4nm SoCs. A Prime core running at 3.2GHz and four performance cores running at 2.85GHz make up the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Additionally, it features three 2.0GHz efficiency cores.

In contrast, the Dimensity 9200 SoC features three performance cores running at 2.8GHz and a prime core clocking in at 3.05GHz. The top MediaTek SoC also has four efficiency cores running at 1.8GHz. The benchmark results might also change based on how each SoC is tuned for different flagship smartphones.

Given how powerful these SoCs are, it will be fascinating to see how effective they are in everyday use once they appear in top devices.

Recently, further details about the Moto X40 were revealed. According to reports, the phone has a 6.67-inch OLED screen with curved edges on all four sides. It will feature a 165Hz refresh rate and have a Full HD+ resolution. A billion different colours are reportedly supported by the display.

A 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera are rumoured to be included in the phone's triple rear camera setup. According to rumors, the display's hole-punch cutout will house a 60-megapixel front camera. "Moto X40"
