Google Assistant is gaining additional capabilities to make the virtual assistant more useful when listening to your favourite podcast. The search giant has updated Assistant with new voice commands that allow users to search for and play a specific episode of a podcast. Previously, asking Assistant to play a podcast would launch the most recent episode. The new commands can be used in conjunction with three filters to enhance your podcast listening experience.
Users will now be able to access individual episodes of their favourite artists' podcasts by just searching for the episode name in Google Assistant. The new Assistant command is detailed in the most recent blog article on Google's official blog. Until now, users could only play the most recent episode of a podcast by saying, "Hey Google, play [podcast name]." However, the new feature will allow them to jump right into a specific episode by using the following three filters:
1. Perform a guest search, such as "Play the Archetypes with Meghan."
2. Topic search: "Play the criminal thriller"
3. "Play the Glory Edim's Well-Read Black Girl episode 4"
Because this is a Google Assistant voice command, it should operate on any Assistant-enabled device, such as speakers. Other Assistant tips for holiday travellers and hosts are also discussed in the blog post. For example, you can now get real-time updates on your orders by saying, "Hey Google, when is my Amazon order coming?"
Google has added new functionality to Search and Maps. Google is now offering augmented reality searches using Live View in select places around the world. This function allows you to observe landmarks and destinations while pointing your smartphone's screen out into the environment. According to the corporation, this will assist customers in locating locations that are not immediately visible in their perspective. Using the AR overlays, you will also be able to see information such as timings and prices.
