Previous news? | WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.12: what’s new? WhatsApp is working on updating messages by using their edited version! |
Last month, Mark Zuckerberg revealed three new privacy options for WhatsApp users on Facebook: prior group participants, screenshot blocking, and who can see when you're active on WhatsApp. After installing the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.9 update, many Android beta testers were already able to manage who could see their online presence on WhatsApp, and there is finally good news for iOS users today: WhatsApp is now releasing the ability to hide the online status to some lucky beta testers after installing the latest beta from TestFlight!
As you can see in the image, it's simple to see if the function is already enabled for your WhatsApp account: simply look for an extra setting named "who can see when I'm online" under the section "Last seen": if it's there, it indicates the feature is finally accessible for you!
By selecting "same as last seen," you may limit your online appearance on WhatsApp to to those who cannot see your last seen. So, if no one can see your last seen, they can't see when you're on WhatsApp. If you choose "My contacts" and "same as last seen," non-contacts will not be able to tell when you're online.
If you didn't get the functionality, don't worry: WhatsApp has recently begun rolling it out to select lucky beta testers. If nothing goes wrong when providing this functionality to those folks, WhatsApp will broaden the deployment by making the new privacy options available to more users. Meanwhile, please maintain your WhatsApp version up to date, and we will notify you when there is news for additional users.
