We previously discussed a new feature that is in the works that will allow users to keep specific messages under specific circumstances. These messages are known as retained messages. What happens if you wished to save a fading message before it was automatically erased from the chat after it reached its expiration date? Any participant in the conversation can choose to keep the message for everyone in this scenario; hence, kept messages are just disappearing messages without an expiration. given that anyone can
Remove it from retained messages is helpful when you don't want the vanishing message to be kept in the chat. Users can decide to keep a disappearing message in the conversation regardless of its expiration, or they can decide to unkeep it later so the message has an expiration again.
In the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.3 update, the feature is still under development, but the firm is now working on managing specific situations while keeping messages:
This screenshot demonstrates how an alert appears when it is impossible to preserve a vanishing message. In this instance, the disappearing message's author has removed the message from the conversation's saved messages so that no one else can keep it again. If you have the option to save a message, it is stored similarly to a "starred message" but is preserved in a separate area of chat info called kept messages.
This feature is being worked on and will be available later. As always, if there are any updates about this functionality, we'll keep you informed.
