WhatsApp has released a new update via the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the app's version number up to 2.22.20.12.

We already announced a new feature in the works: the ability to modify messages. We shared the first screenshot when developing the WhatsApp beta for Android, and another from the WhatsApp Desktop beta. The feature is still under development, but due to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.12 update, we learned that the business is still working on it for a future Android app update:
WhatsApp is presently working on a procedure that will allow the app to update the message using its altered version: this is an indication that WhatsApp will continue to work on this feature. If you're using an old version of WhatsApp, you'll need to upgrade it whenever you get an amended version of a message from the receiver or a connected device. Unfortunately, as we said in earlier articles concerning altered messages, the information about the time frame within which users can update their messages is currently unknown.
The ability to modify messages is not yet accessible since it is currently in development and we do not know when it will be available. We will notify you as soon as a compatible update or new information about the feature's development becomes available.
