At the iPhone 14 announcement event, there were some intriguing new features as well as some puzzlers. Read up on the costs of the iPhone 14 series phones around the world and check out our in-depth coverage of the event here. In case you missed it, prices have increased significantly in several areas compared to last year.
This Friday, all four models were available for pre-order, however only the iPhone 14, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max will be available starting on September 16. On October 7, the new iPhone 14 Plus will be available. Before asking for your opinion on which of the four phones is best for you, allow us to quickly describe each model.
Finally, it took place. – the iPhone 14 Pro Max (and the 14 Pro) left behind the 12MP camera sensors and now boast a 48MP Quad Bayer sensor in the main camera. Apple crowed about the pixel binning and lossless 2x digital zoom that this sensor enables. That may be old news to Android users, but it is the biggest camera upgrade in recent years.
The 120Hz AMOLED display (LTPO) now has an Always On mode, which is the second element of what finally transpired. We assume Apple appreciates seamless switching between the lenses more than extra resolution because the main camera's higher resolution does not enable 8K video recording.
Additionally, the Apple A16 Bionic chipset is new to the two Pro variants. Apple chose to highlight advancements over the three-year-old A13 rather than providing a direct comparison with the A15, which powers the two non-Pro versions. The performance of A16 so far is not spectacular.
Although the addition of satellite SOS messaging is fantastic, the decision to remove the SIM slot (in the US only) is dubious. By the way, this holds true for all four models.
