The Xperia 5 IV is a typical example of how Sony has never been the preferred brand for budget smartphones, especially not in the flagship market. Nevertheless, last week's poll demonstrates that the phone can appeal to a wide audience if only its price was more reasonable.
Despite like the phone, half of the participants in the poll were unwilling to pay $1,000/€1,050/£950 to get one. The Mark 3 model from the previous year cost roughly the same, at $1,000/€1,000/£950. That's nothing in comparison to Apple's pricing increases for the new 14-series, which also no longer includes a tiny model (the iPhone 13 mini is still available at a reduced price).
When we surveyed you last year, the Mark 3 was thefraction of people who thought it was too expensive was smaller and a good deal more people were preparing to buy one. However, looking at the Xperia 1 IV poll from this year also shows a prevalent opinion that the price is too high. A sign of the times, perhaps?
