According to a source, the Twitter account of Minister V Senthil Balaji of Tamil Nadu was momentarily compromised on Sunday. The minister was able to connect back into his account with the help of the microblogging service thanks to a password reset email. The minister is the most recent among a number of politicians and official government accounts whose accounts have recently been compromised.
The Twitter account of Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji was hacked on Sunday, according to a report by PTI. Once they had access to the account, the hackers allegedly changed the profile picture before tweeting in favour of cryptocurrency.
The story cites DMK MLA T R B Rajaa as saying that the minister's account was allegedly hacked by malware. Rajaa wrote to Twitter to ask for a resolution to the problem.
The microblogging service reportedly sent the minister, who has more than 2 lakh followers, a password reset email, which allowed him to restore access to his account later on Sunday.
The minister is the most recent of numerous Indian politicians and accounts associated with the government that have had their accounts compromised on Twitter in recent months. Yogi Adityanath's office's Twitter account was hacked back in April, and it's been alleged that before access was reestablished, approximately 500 messages were sent out. The Twitter account of the National Disaster Response Force was hacked in January, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's account was also infiltrated. In December, a tweet about the adoption of Bitcoin was also posted.
