For an undisclosed fee, Amazon announced plans to purchase Cloostermans, a mechatronics solutions manufacturer based in Belgium.

With the acquisition of Cloostermans, Amazon declared that it will keep making investments in specialised cutting-edge technologies to promote creativity at work and enhance the working environment.

In order to transport and stack bulky palettes and totes or package products together for client delivery, Cloostermans created technology that is currently being used in Amazon operations.

In 2019, Amazon and Cloostermans started collaborating.

According to Amazon, automation has created new positions at its facilities, including flow control specialists and technicians for robotics and mechatronics maintenance.

It said, "To encourage career growth, we have implemented apprenticeship programmes that provide our employees with paid training and on-the-job learning that results in certification, technical skills, and a chance for meaningful work.
