A few photographs of a new Chromecast gadget with the same design as the present Chromecast with Google TV that comes with a bundled voice control appeared last week. That model, which enables 4K HDR output, was released nearly three years ago. Although this new model only supports 1080p resolution, it will use the same Google Assistant remote to manage the Chromecast.
According to SnoopyTech on Twitter, the "Chromecast with Google TV (HD)" will price for $40 and is now in stock at American shops. The new Chromecast might be released soon, but we doubt it will be available before Google's October 6 event - albeit the timing implies it will be available on the day of the event.
PromotionalWinFuture provided shots of the Chromecast with Google TV (HD). There are other lifestyle shots in addition to the white-background mockups, showing the look is comparable to the present Chromecast with Google TV.
The contents of the package are depicted in the image below. A USB-C to A cable, a USB-A power converter, a Bluetooth voice remote, and generic AA batteries should be included with the updated Chromecast.
We're puzzled as to why Google would create a Chromecast that appears identical to another device unless it intended to replace it. Perhaps Google has plans to discontinue the Chromecast in 2020. TV. Do take these speculations with a grain of salt.
Google is having its annual hardware event in person on October 6 where it will announce the new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, a new Pixel Watch, and there are rumors that we may see some new Nest Home hardware and the Chromecast with Google TV might fit in there somewhere.
