If you utilise Microsoft programmes and services, the government has issued a high-security risk warning to you. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) has issued a security advisory for certain Microsoft products and services. Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Visual Studio, and the.NET Framework are all included.
According to CERT-IN, the vulnerabilities discovered in these Microsoft services are of high severity, and many vulnerabilities that potentially circumvent security constraints have been identified.
CERT-IN is a nodal body within the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for those who are unaware. The government agency is in charge of identifying flaws and cybersecurity risks such as phishing and hacking.
What the government has stated about these Microsoft product vulnerabilities
According to CERT, "several vulnerabilities have been reported inmultiple Microsoft products that an attacker may use to escalate privilege, execute arbitrary code, divulge sensitive information, circumvent security constraints, and launch a denial of service (DoS) attack against the targeted machine."
What users are able to do
The government has encouraged users of several Microsoft products to install the most recent security patch, which is based on Microsoft's September 2022 security update (here)
