Three new Indian television shows — Showtime, Mahabharata, and Koffee with Karan Season 8 — are coming to Disney+ Hotstar's streaming service. At the D23 Expo on Saturday, Disney+ Hotstar's Head of Content Gaurav Banerjee made the announcement. The Anaheim Convention Center in California, United States, is the venue for this event. With the addition of these three new shows, the platform expands its partnership with Bollywood producer Karan Johar and forges new ties with Madhu Mantena, Mythoversestudios, and Allu Entertainment.
In order to address "eclectic global content trends, notably highlighting Disney+ Hotstar's role in shaping content in India and beyond," Banerjee participated in a panel discussion on international content at the D23 Expo. Here, he made announcements about the upcoming streaming platform launches of Showtime, Mahabharata, and Koffee with Karan Season 8.
Speaking about the news, Johar expressed his excitement for the upcoming season of his chat show, which debuted over 18 years ago. He disclosed that a new fiction series dubbed Showtime will also be coming from Dharma Production. It will be a drama series that aims to expose the insider information of India's entertainment sector.
On the other side, Mahabharata will be based on one of ancient India's finest epics. It will discuss the ultimate clash between "dharma" and "adharma" through the struggle for power between the Pandava and Kaurava princes. As of right now, no information is available about this show's cast.
The Disney D23 Expo began on Saturday and will continue through September 11. Studios including Disney, Pixar, and Marvel will present their upcoming projects at this yearly event. The Little Mermaid, Amy Adams' Disenchanted, and Hocus Pocus 2 all have trailers available already. In addition, Marvel presented the trailers for Midnight Suns, a tactical role-playing game, and an unnamed game that sets Black Panther and Captain America against one another.
