At its Far Out September event, which was broadcast live from the company's headquarters in Cupertino, California, Apple unveiled the new AirPods Pro 2 wireless earphones.

$249, £249, and AU$399 were announced as the prices. The preorder period begins on September 9 and ends on September 23.

White is still the only colour available for the new AirPods Pro, which have the same "protruding stick" style as the previous model. The earbuds' capacitive touch interface, which allows volume adjustment by sliding your finger up or down, is a significant improvement over the original.

According to Apple, a new H2 chip enables advanced computational audio in the new AirPods Pro. The advantages include two times as much noise cancellation and an Adaptive Transparency Mode that processes sound at 48,000 times per second and reduces noises like heavy machinery even when Transparency Mode is activated.

The new AirPods Pro enable spatial audio just like the AirPods 3 and AirPods Max do. Additionally, iOS 16 supports the brand-new customised Spatial Audio feature, which builds a custom listener profile based on your head and ear shape using the TrueDepth Camera function on the iPhone to make the sound movement more realistic.

With the new AirPods Pro, you have the choice of charging by Lightning cable, Qi, or Apple MagSafe wirelessly. However, for the first time, you can also use the charger that is included with the Apple Watch. The battery life of the new model has been increased from 4.5 hours to 6 hours on a single charge and from 24 hours to 30 hours of continuous listening time with case charges.

A better case with a built-in speaker to provide feedback for pairing, low power, and charging status is one of the few new features in the new model that were noted in our post on the 5 enhancements to expect from the AirPods Pro 2. When the iOS Find My function is engaged, the speaker of the case emits a beep. It also supports UWB directional location finding with your iPhone, allowing you to point directly at your misplaced AirPods.

As a result of Apple's addition of a new low-distortion speaker and a custom amplifier, the audio quality of the devices is likely to be better than it was with the originals.

Lossless audio was not mentioned, but Apple did state that the H2 processor allows high-bandwidth communication; as of now, we are unsure of what that means. It's possible that Apple may eventually offer lossless sound to AirPods through Bluetooth as we've already written about this possibility.
