According to reports, WhatsApp is developing an improved search function that would let users read messages sent on a specific date. WhatsApp for iOS is being used to test the functionality. The feature is rumoured to be in development, and a release date has not yet been determined. According to a report, beta testers have not yet received it. The announcement follows word that an update to WhatsApp for iOS introduced a flaw. The bug automatically altered "1 week" to "8 hours" for the mute duration.

According to a post on WABetainfo, a website that tests new features in WhatsApp beta releases before they are made available to consumers, WhatsApp for iOS may soon get a new Search by date function that will let users look for messages from a specific date. As a result, you will be able to exclude some results based on dates. Currently, when you enter a name or number in the search box, WhatsApp returns a number of results.

According to reports, this function was being developed two years ago, but the plan to make it available to everyone was postponed. After the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.0.19.73 update from TestFlight was made available, according to the folks at WABetainfo, they discovered the feature. According to the platform, WhatsApp has updated to version 22.19.0.73 for iOS after submitting a new update through the TestFlight beta Program.

Several screenshots posted by WABetaInfo appear to show a Calendar icon directly over the keyboard. One must touch on the Calendar icon on WhatsApp for iPhone in order to use the option to look for a message from a particular date. The calendar icon may be opened by tapping it, and a date picker will display where you can choose any month, date, or year. As previously noted, the feature is currently being worked on in this iteration and will eventually be made available to beta testers.

The change occurs two days after users of WhatsApp for iOS encountered a problem after updating to version 2.22.18.76 of the programme. A WhatsApp bug reportedly caused the silence length to automatically change from "1 week" to "8 hours." Users that selected the '8 hours' and 'Always' periods for muting chats, however, had no problems.
