According to reports, Samsung has applied for a patent for a foldable phone with an expandable screen that can also wrap around the user's hand. A controller, a folding sensor unit, and a foldable display that Samsung plans to incorporate into this phone may make this possible, according to a report. The advancement comes a few months after it was claimed that a South Korean business was working on an extendable display that used a rolling mechanism. There may be less need for a secondary display thanks to the design.

A patent for the novel folding technology, according to 91Mobiles, claims that it makes use of a flexible screen that can be expanded or wrapped around the wrist. The article also included purported patent photos, which appear to show how the foldable display can be folded at a right angle to create a screen that is curved like a waterfall.

According to another diagram, the screen may be twisted 180 degrees to produce a semicircular display area that resembles a loop, allowing it to be worn around the wrist. In essence, this indicates that it's conceivable to wear a future Samsung foldable phone around your wrist.

A foldable display, a controller to connect with a foldable display, and a folding sensor unit, according to the report, are two ways Samsung may achieve this adaptability. According to additional reports, the folding sensor also has pressure, touch, piezo, and proximity sensors. According to the sensor, when the display is folded, the folding sensor ensures that the display retains its display characteristics.

It should be emphasised that we cannot be certain whether this design would actually be put into production since only the patent has surfaced.

The news was announced a few months after a Samsung patent application revealed that the South Korean corporation is working on an expandable display that makes use of a rolling mechanism. It's possible that this design was created to eliminate the requirement for a secondary display. According to the patent, this display may be enlarged in every direction.
