At its next presentation on September 7, Apple is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 14 series. There are now more specifics online regarding the company's forthcoming iPhone models, which are rumoured to be the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to reports, the iPhone 14 Pro will feature unique lock screen improvements, while the 14 series will gain updates to its battery life. Apple will likely support eSIM technology in general and may do away with the actual SIM card this year.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro fresh rumours

The iPhone 14 Pro versions this year will receive special treatment, according to a claim by MacRumors quoting an unnamed source, not just in terms of the pill-shaped display cutout but also in terms of the software interface that surrounds it. The source states that the battery percentage

When the device is locked, the indicator will reportedly appear in its previous format (battery percentage number followed by the battery status indication) on the right side of the display cutout with the cellular signal indicator (together with the carrier's name) being shifted to the left. Due to the big display notch on modern iPhone models, there isn't enough room to display the percentage, thus users must manually scroll down to reach Control Centre to check their battery level.

Additionally, according to the rumour, the iPhone 14 Pro versions would include an original always-on lock screen arrangement that communicates with the lock screen. When in always-on mode, the lock screen wallpaper's foreground elements will dim while the backdrop (behind the clock) will be either eliminated or entirely darkened. All lock screen-selected widgets will also be viewable on the always-on display, but they purportedly fade in and out at predetermined intervals.

All things selected on it must be in sync with the lock screen when utilising the always-on lock screen. The always-on lock screen's primary graphic components appear to be independent customization options. As seen in the current software betas, notifications will flow out from the bottom and be shown on the always-on lock screen as well. According to the rumour, Apple will also let users enable a notifications counter at the bottom of the always-on lock screen.

Apple iPhone 14 series fresh rumours

There are updates for the standard iPhone 14 models in addition to the expected special software treatment for the iPhone 14 Pro variants. The Power On newsletter from Mark Gurman claims that the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro models from Apple will have larger batteries this year. The iPhone 14 could have a 3,279mAh battery, while the 14 Pro could have a 3,200mAh battery, according to an earlier rumour by 9to5Mac that used a Baidu post as source. Strangely, the iPhone 14 Pro Max's battery may have a somewhat smaller capacity than the present model; it is rumoured to have a 4,323mAh unit as opposed to the 4,352mAh capacity of the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

A second intriguing update from Gurman revealed Apple's emphasis on promoting a SIM-free iPhone, which he said might start to happen this year or next, although with a few models. According to Gurman, Apple will promote eSIMs more aggressively because operators have already begun encouraging users to use eSIM functionality rather than a physical SIM card. This move should theoretically free up space inside smartphones, allowing for larger batteries or newer smartphone technologies.
