Finally, Huawei has launched its Mate 50 line of smartphones. The Mate 50e is an upper mid-range device in the portfolio, in addition to the flagship models such the Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design. 5G connectivity is not supported across the Mate 50. The Mate 50e is outfitted with the 4G version of the Snapdragon 778G, whilst the Mate 50 flagships are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 4G chipset.


Features and characteristics for the Huawei Mate 50e



The Huawei Mate 50e has a punch-hole screen, as opposed to the Mate 50 flagships' notched displays. The smartphone has a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 2700 × 1224-pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 20:9, a refresh rate of 90Hz, a touch sampling rate of 300Hz, and a high-frequency 144Hz PWM dimming. The device comes preloaded with HarmonyOS 3.0.

Under the hood of the Mate 50e is a Snapdragon 778G 4G processor. The phone has 128 GB or 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM. An NM card slot is built within the gadget for further storage.


The Mate 50e has a dual-camera system, therefore the four camera rings on the back of the device are merely a marketing ploy. The XMAGE image processing technology, which is also included on its Mate 50 flagship brothers, is a plus. It has a primary RYYB lens with a variable aperture between f/1.4 and f/4.0 that is 50 megapixels. A 13 megapixel ultra-wide camera is attached to it. It sports a 13-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.

A 4,460mAh battery powers the Mate 50e and enables 66W rapid charging. It has a USB-C connector, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11x, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, and other connectivity options. The Mate 50e also includes an in-screen fingerprint reader.


Price and accessibility of the Huawei Mate 50e

There are two price points for the Mate 50e: 3,999 Yuan (about $573) for 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, and 4,499 Yuan (about $644) for 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Frost Silver, Obsidian Black, and Streamer Purple are the available hues for the product.
