DDoS-Guard, a company that provides DDoS protection, has followed Cloudflare in discontinuing its support for the contentious forum Kiwi Farms.
The website, known for harassing socially excluded groups, was prohibited from utilising DDoS-DDoS Guard's protection service after an analysis of its content.
The operators of the Kiwi Farms forum turned on DDoS-Guard protection for their domain on September 4, 2022, as a result of Cloudflare's decision to block the forum and revoke permission to utilise their security services.
Kiwi Farms fights for online survival
Recently, the forum was able to briefly resume operation utilising a Chinese-managed domain and security provided by Vancouver-based web hosting(opens in new tab) company VanwaTech.
The business has a history of assisting contentious websites like 8kun (formerly known as 8chan) and the Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi website. Cloudflare previously blocked both websites.
Following its choice to host Kiwi Farms, VanwaTech was contacted by TechRadar Pro, but no response has been received.
The Kiwi Farms forum looks to be blocked when you try to access it; you receive the following message: "Sorry, kiwifarms.ru has been blocked by your network administrator."
Despite the controversy, there is still much discussion on a long-term fix for websites of this kind, particularly in respect to keeping trolling sites offline.
Despite the fact that it was not the company's responsibility to police the content on websites using its services, DDoS-Guard claims it terminated Kiwi Farms' access to its protection service without waiting for a formal notification.
"We are not required to determine whether a website is unlawful. We can only impose reasonable access restrictions on the customer's website. For instance, if there is the formal court notification," the business stated in a blog post.
"Users have complained to us repeatedly, alleging violations of the DDoS Guard Acceptable Use Policy."
DDoS-Guard expressed gratitude to those who alerted them to the situation.
