Intel unveiled some critical insights at its Intel Tech Tour in Israel about a month before the firm formally debuts its 13th generation Raptor Lake CPUs.

The new Raptor Lake desktop CPU will outperform Alder Lake by up to 15% in single-threaded workloads and 41% in multi-threaded tasks.

Raptor Lake will also be the first SKU to support stock clock speeds of up to 6GHz. Intel also says the CPU will reach a world-record-breaking 8GHz using liquid nitrogen. Furthermore, it would need to reach 8.7GHz in order to be the true world record. This is most likely a Core i9-13900KS.

Intel's goal is simple: beat AMD's forthcoming Ryzen 7000 series, which will have a maximum clock speed of 5.7GHz.

The 13th generation Intel CPUs will become officially official at the end of this month and will be on sale on October 20. They will be powered by Intel 7, an improved version of the Alder Lake 10nm node. They will have up to 24 cores and 32 threads, as well as up to 8 performance cores and up to 16 efficiency cores.

Raptor Lake-S processors will be 65W-125W desktop CPUs, while Raptor Lake-P laptop processors will be 15W-45W. Support for PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSDs and dual-channel DDR5-5600 memory is expected.
