The iOS 16 software upgrade will be released to all eligible iPhones in September 2022, but the public beta is already accessible. In this post, we'll show you how to install iOS 16 on your iPhone at each stage of development: developer beta, public beta, and stable release.

The iOS 16 Roadmap

Given Apple's track record, the final version of iOS 16 is likely to be released in September this year for all eligible iPhone models. Previously, on June 6, the corporation launched a beta testing programme for developers exclusively. The public beta will be available in July 2022.

iOS 16 developer beta is published on June 6, 2022.

iOS 16 public beta is published on July 11, 2022.

iOS 16 is planned to be launched in September 2022.

The most notable feature of the latest iOS version is probably the ability to personalise the lock screen. You may use this to create several lock screen settings and move between them to find the one that best suits you at all times.

How to Get and Install iOS 16 on Your iPhone

Before you begin, it is strongly advised that you backup your iPhone, which will allow you to restore to the stable version of the operating system if anything goes wrong, and then proceed with these procedures.

On July 11, the developer beta iOS 16 beta phase concluded!

To test the developer beta, you will need a developer account to simply download and install the first beta file on your iPhone. Remember that beta software refers to a version of software that is still in development and has not yet been released to the public. Furthermore, an Apple Developer Program membership, which costs around $100, is required during this time.

Make sure Developer Mode is enabled in Settings > Privacy & Security before testing your app on your device. To install iOS 16 developer beta on your iPhone using the configuration profile, follow the instructions below:

Get the configuration profile from Apple's Developer website (a developer account is required to do so).

On your mobile device: Install the configuration profile by downloading it straight to your device and following the installation instructions.

On your Mac or PC, do the following: Save the file to your hard drive and email it to an iPhone account. In Mail, choose the configuration profile and continue the installation steps.

Connect your device to a power supply and a Wi-Fi network.

Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update.

Select Download and Install.

Choose Install.

Enter your passcode if prompted.

When the device restarts, it will launch the iOS 16 developer beta.

The public beta version

On July 11, 2022, the public beta of iOS 16 was published. To join in the Apple Beta Software Program, you must first become a member; only after that will you be able to enrol your devices in order to access public betas and test out the latest features before the official version is published. Follow these instructions to install the upgrade package as soon as the public beta files for iOS 16 are ready for download:

Log in to beta.apple.com on your iPhone using your Apple ID.

Click Enroll your iOS device in order to download the iOS 16 public beta installation profile to your iPhone (follow the on-screen instructions on the device).

On your smartphone, open the Settings app.

A new item will appear to indicate that the Setup Profile has been discovered. Choose that choice, then hit the Install button on the following screen and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please keep in mind that this step merely downloads the file that activates the trial versions on the device.

To install the iOS beta, simply follow these steps: Configuration > General > Software Update

When the procedure is finished, your iPhone will be running iOS 16 public beta.

Official publication

The official operating system upgrade for the iPhone will be conducted Over-The-Air (OTA), which means you will just need an Internet connection to obtain the update file. To see if iOS 16 is available on your smartphone, download and install the update using the instructions below:

Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

Select the General option.

Click the Software Update button. The system will look for any updates that are available.

If an update is now available, appropriate update information will be displayed on the device screen. Select Download and Install from the menu.

Select Install Now after downloading the most recent version.

Following the reset, your iPhone will be running iOS 16.

Remember! The update will be deployed only when the device has been restarted. The iPhone must have at least 50% battery life left or be connected to a charger for this to work. Have fun downloading!

How are new iOS versions created?

Aside from having a more tightly managed environment, Apple has a slightly different development approach than Google does with Android. Although both systems get major yearly updates, iOS frequently includes significant changes between version releases.

In the case of iOS (including iPadOS and other derivative systems), Apple provides beta versions for minor revisions—such as 16.1, 16.2, and so on—which are typically accessible for a few weeks before the final stable version is published. Google has a different approach, performing a single review process spanning many months prior to the yearly Android version upgrade, which occurs in the second part of the calendar year.
