Exclusively for the Chinese market, Xiaomi released its newest flagship model, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, in July. Reviewers gave the device excellent marks for its camera performance. A few months after its debut, the smartphone has now undergone the DxOMark camera assessment. So let's examine the outcomes.
On the global rankings for smartphone cameras published by DxOMark, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra has managed to place sixth. It received 138 points in the test, displacing the 137-point iPhone 13 Pro and 138-point iPhone 13 Pro Max from the top 5.
The gadget is lauded for its high overall image quality in the majority of use scenarios and its adaptability, providing customers with a choice between two alternative image signatures. Low light imaging is also a strong point, with the camera offering a wide dynamic range in night mode. The ultra-wide and zoom cameras provide excellent images at all distances, particularly long-range. The camera also has an excellent performance in video mode, offering extended dynamic range, natural texture rendering, and good exposure.
Despite all of this, the camera occasionally exhibits inconsistency, leading to discrepancies between photos and occasionally even between successive shots. Furthermore, the final shot image is not always identical to the preview. Other than that, the camera suffers with extremely difficult lighting conditions like scenes with a lot of contrast.
