Honor introduced the X40 today at a special event in China, as predicted. The phone is now available for purchase there, with prices beginning at CNY 1,499, which is currently comparable to $214.
The device has a 6.67-inch 1080x2400 120 Hz curved AMOLED screen with 800-nit High Brightness Mode and a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz, the Snapdragon 695 CPU, and a 5,100 mAh battery with 40W fast charging capabilities (and a charger in the box). The fingerprint scanner is located beneath the display.
The rear camera system consists of a 50 MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2 MP auxiliary sensor. These, together with the LED flash, are contained in the massive ring/circle. CAMERA "MATRIX AI VISION"The wording fills the otherwise vacant middle of the circle, while the Honor brand is in the lower right corner. This is undoubtedly a one-of-a-kind design. In any case, an 8 MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture handles selfies.
The phone is powered by Android 12 with Honor's Magic UI 6.1 on top and is available in four memory/storage configurations: 6/128GB, 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/256GB. It has dimensions of 161.6 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs 172g. According to Google Translate, it is available in the following colorways: "Rainbow clouds chasing the moon," "Ink jade green," and "Phantom night darkness."
It's unknown when or if the Honor X40 will be available outside of China, but we see no reason why it shouldn't.
