Google Photos will be updated with a variety of creative tools, including an in-built collage editor, as well as a reworked Memories feature with brand-new dramatic visual effects and music support. The modifications were disclosed earlier this week by the corporation. It will be made available to users as part of a bigger update to Google Photos' Memories function, which was released in 2019. The search engine giant also disclosed that the Memories feature has already had over 3.5 million monthly views.

In a blog post, the business said that it was updating its Memories function, which allows users to look back at their history of earlier images through a dramatic audio-visual experience, akin to Instagram and Facebook's Stories and Memories. According to the firm, Google Photos Memories will now automatically choose and trim the finest snippets using machine learning.

Google also claims that the revamped Memories function will begin to employ instrumental music. Meanwhile, the service's "Cinematic Photographs" visual effect function will merge numerous generated 3D models of still photos with background music.

According to Google, the still photos in Memories will also look more immersive to consumers with automated mild zooming video effects.

Google Photos is also introducing support for an in-app collage editor called Styles, which allows users to create collages using grid layout and even add a background. According to the firm, the Styles function is inspired by classic scrapbooks, where graphic art is automatically applied to memories in an attempt to make them shine.

Users will also be able to quickly share Memories, however the business claims that the service is now confined to Android and will be pushed out to iOS and the Web in the near future.

Google One and Pixel phone users will also be able to use additional editing options such as Portrait Light or HDR within their collages, as well as access more than 30 new designs. Limited-edition versions from featured artists Shantell Martin and Lisa Congdon will be available during the launch.

The business also verified that users will still be able to exclude images of certain persons or time periods from appearing in Memories. According to Google, the latest update will be gradually phased out to Google users.
