According to reports, Sea has reduced staff at a livestreaming programme that is a part of its gaming division, Garena. According to a source, the Singapore-based company has put an end to its intentions for a gaming livestream platform, which will no longer be maintained. The company's development section, Sea Labs, is also apparently intending to discontinue some of its blockchain and cloud-related initiatives. The business has seen a number of setbacks, including a government ban on its Garena Free Fire game.

According to Reuters, which cited two people with knowledge of the situation, Sea notified staff members at its livestream and community service Booyah! stating that there were no intentions to upgrade the app. According to the report, the company's decision to stop working on the app will lead to up to 40 layoffs.

According to the allegation, which cites a third individual with knowledge of the developments, the corporation is also reported to have shut down significant initiatives — relating to blockchain and public cloud projects — while terminating "dozens" of staff in order to increase its revenues.

A corporate representative was quoted in the article as saying that the company was concentrating on the long-term health of its ecosystem and that it had "made some modifications to increase efficiency in our operations that effect a number of functions."

Garena Popular battle royale game Free Fire from Sea was one of the mobile applications and games that the authorities outlawed in February. Free Fire, AppLock, and 52 other apps were immediately taken down from Google Play and the Apple App Store in the nation as a result of the IT ministry's prohibition. Later, Sea had issued a warning that the ban in India, where the game had a sizable user base, was hurting its business.
