Elon Musk has discovered yet another justification for calling off his $44 billion (roughly Rs. 3,50,000 crore) acquisition of Twitter. According to a recent story, the billionaire allegedly filed a new letter of termination to the social media business, listing the alleged payment made by Twitter to a whistleblower among the reasons for terminating the agreement. Musk reportedly claimed that the organisation had kept him in the dark about the payout, which is thought to be a multi-million dollar reward. The report states that Twitter has denied the allegations.

According to AFP, Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, recently sent Twitter a letter of termination. The claimed severance payment paid by the company to whistleblower Peiter Zatko has been added by the billionaire as a new justification to scrap the $44 billion acquisition agreement for the social media platform that was first put up in April.

A few days ago, it was claimed by Musk's attorney that Twitter had paid Peiter Zatko, the company's former head of security, $7 million (approximately Rs. 56 crore) to keep quiet about its internal operating issues. The allegations were aired during a hearing on Tuesday by Alex Spiro, Musk's attorney.

According to the AFP story, Musk's attorneys have argued that Twitter's inability to obtain the approval of the SpaceX CEO before paying Zatko provides even another legal justification for terminating the merger agreement.

Twitter, meanwhile, has denied every charge Musk has levelled against the company thus far. Twitter's lawyer, William Savitt, was quoted in the article as saying, "My buddy seems to be claiming that Twitter should have gratuitously told Musk that there existed a disgruntled former employee who made many charges that had been looked into and found to be without substance."

According to AFP, Kathaleen McCormick, the chancellor of the Delaware court in charge of the Musk-Twitter case, has given Musk the go-ahead to include Zatko's whistleblowing discoveries in his termination letter.
