Xiaomi has backtracked on its earlier prediction that the 12S series wouldn't pass the DxOMark test, and the findings are now out! DxOMark conducted testing on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra!

Although the Mi 11 Ultra has superior hardware to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the older flagship has managed to score higher than 12S Ultra. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra features a great set of cameras for everyday use, but when compared to its rivals, it falls short in a few crucial areas.

Images from the Xiaomi 12S Ultra are inconsistent, according to DxOMark. Although the Xiaomi 12S Ultra has excellent hardware overall, it struggles to compete in some software-related areas.

The fingers are blurred in this portrait mode photograph because the 12S Ultra missed the grid. However, the Mi 11 Ultra correctly identifies it.

They repeated the same situation a few times for this test. When compared to the sensors of regular cameras, telephoto lenses are still not very competitive. They note that even though the scene is identical in these images, 12S Ultra produces inconsistent outcomes.

In this photograph, the 12S Ultra is noisier than the Mi 11 Ultra. On the Mi 11 Ultra, the grid and the leaves are significantly cleaner.

The Mi 11 Ultra also captures better detail in still photos. On the cropped image, it is more pronounced.

It appears like Xiaomi has to focus more on the software side since portrait mode edge detection and other difficulties can be resolved with a software update. They cover a wide range of topics in their test. The entire DxOMark test for the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Camera is available at this link.
