Apple is rumoured to be developing technology to create a self-driving automobile, and numerous press stories have previously suggested that the company is doing so. Even though the Cupertino business has yet to formally reveal plans for an autonomous vehicle, a recent survey indicates that a significant portion of US consumers are already eager to buy a vehicle from the company that makes the iPhone, iPad, Macs, Apple Watch, and other consumer goods.

In a recent poll of US new-vehicle buyers, shoppers ranked Apple as the third most important brand when asked how they felt about the quality of more than 45 car companies. Over 2 lakh car owners were surveyed for the New Vehicle Experience Study (NVES) by Strategic Vision, which kept track of things like smartphone brand usage and EV development goals.

Apple, which doesn't even have a car to sell customers, came in third in the NVES study, with 26% of respondents saying they would "certainly consider" buying a car from the Cupertino company in the future. In the survey, Apple actually outperformed well-known manufacturers Ford (21%) and Tesla (20%). Apple came in third, behind Toyota (38%) and Honda (32%), which occupied the first and second spots, respectively.

Apple ranked third in terms of user consideration for a vehicle, but the business easily outperformed the competition when consumers were asked to rate the quality of the brand, with 24 percent checking the "I love it" box, per the poll.

In contrast to other brands, the survey revealed that 34% of respondents who had recently purchased a new car stated they "don't know enough about" what an Apple vehicle may be like because the business has not yet made any announcements regarding its plans for an autonomous electric vehicle.

Luigi Taraborrelli, a 20-year veteran of the Italian automaker Lamborghini, was hired by Apple, according to a previous Bloomberg report, suggesting that the corporation may be developing a vehicle. According to the article, Taraborrelli was hired as one of Apple's EV team's most senior managers and is anticipated to help the company's efforts after years of setbacks and turmoil.
