Cyberflashing: How to Avoid Unwanted AirDrops on Your iPhone

AirDrop has become a need on the iPhone and other Apple devices. It allows for the most basic type of file sharing—but this is also what attracts nefarious characters. Abuse of this practical feature, known as cyberflashing, has recently increased. This article will explain what cyberflashing is and how to protect yourself against it.

AirDrop is a useful feature for quickly sending files from one Apple device to another. Without a Wi-Fi connection, you may transfer data between Macs, MacBooks, and iOS devices within a nine-meter radius. Simply choose a device from the list and transfer the file; the recipient must accept it—all. that's

However, there have been an increasing number of complaints from iOS users, particularly female users, who have experienced so-called cyberflashing. In this instance, people accidentally acquire explicit recordings from other iOS users in their immediate vicinity. Unsolicited transmission of sexual photographs is considered repulsive. However, cyberflashing is complicated by the fact that the victims are aware that the sender is nearby.

What I think of such people is something better explored elsewhere. What can you do to safeguard yourself? Below is how you do it!

How to Refrain from Unwanted AirDrop Requests

The answer is actually rather easy. All you have to do is keep outsiders out of your iPhone or iPad. Follow these steps to accomplish this:

Select General from the Settings menu.

Select AirDrop and then Contacts Only. Other options include "Receive off" to reject all AirDrop requests and "For everyone" to accept all requests.

You may also access the settings using the Control Center:

Control Center for Launch

In the top left corner, tap and hold the Network Settings option.

Hold down the AirDrop button while selecting the Contacts Only option.

It's as simple as that! Only persons who have your email address or Apple ID phone number in their contact list will be able to send you AirDrop requests from now on.
