As with Android smartphones, Apple devices don't have an official way to independently lock sensitive programmes with a password. It also lacks a third-party software with similar functionalities that is easily accessible on the App Store. Thankfully, there is a fix that enables users to password-lock particular apps. This is a result of the iOS 12 feature called Screen Time.

So don't worry if you're worried about privacy and wish to restrict access to some apps on your iPhone. This article will show you how to use Screen Time to lock apps on your iPhone.

Steps For iPhone App Locking Screen time usage

Your iPhone's built-in Screen Time function has the authority to place limitations on how an app is utilised. It may be used to lock every other app than the phone app. Although it is simple to use, keep in mind that it can only lock an app for a short period of time. Only iOS versions 12 and later support the feature.

Step 1: On your iPhone, open Settings.

Step 2: Find Screen Time in the list of tabs and tap on it.

Step 3: Tap on App Limits > Enable App Limits > Click on Add Limit.

Step 4: You will see a list of categories. Tap on ‘Social’ if you wish to lock a social media app.

Step 5: Now, from all the apps in the list, find the one that you want to lock and tap on it, and hit the Next button that’s on the top right corner.

Step 6: You will now have to set a time limit. Choose 1 minute from the slider as it is the minimum time. After the set time passes, the app will be locked automatically.

Step 7: Make sure you enable the ‘Block at the end of Limit’ option.

Step 8: Lastly, click on the ‘Add’ button in the top right corner.
