Deepinder Goyal, the company's founder and CEO, announced on Tuesday that Zomato has started testing its planned Intercity Legends service, which will let users buy food from different parts of the country. Currently, a small number of consumers in Gurugram and other areas of South Delhi can use the service. According to Zomato, over the coming weeks, the company expects to swiftly scale the service to additional locations. Currently, the company only accepts food orders from eateries and stores that are a short distance from the customer.

Goyal wrote in a blog post on Tuesday that the business was developing a method to deliver well-known foods from prominent towns all around India to clients' doors. No matter where you are, you can order and enjoy legendary foods like baked rosogollas from Kolkata, biryani from Hyderabad, mysore pak from Bengaluru, kebabs from Lucknow, butter chicken from Old Delhi, or pyaaz kachori from Jaipur with the help of "Intercity Legends," he said.

According to Goyal, the business would use its network of restaurant and delivery partners, as well as information from customers, to bring popular dishes from all around the nation to customers the next day.

"Iconic dishes" will be available to order through the Zomato app when the service is made available to all users, and they will be delivered to customers by air travel in reusable and tamper-proof containers. Without using additives or freezing, Zomato will employ mobile refrigeration technology to preserve the food.

Select users can currently test Intercity Legends in Gurugram and some areas of South Delhi, and the business hopes to pilot the function in more cities over the next several weeks.
