According to the sources, DDR5 RAM was formerly three times as expensive as DDR4, but the market has since corrected to more like double that price for manufacturers selling memory chips. Selling DDR5 RAM at retail is now reportedly "nearly a money-losing operation."
DDR5 contract prices decreased by 20% in the manufacturing sector, compared to a 10% to 15% decline for DDR4, and additional reductions in DDR5 pricing are anticipated in 2023. In fact, the research predicts that costs for DDR5 RAM will be at their "sweet spot" in 2019.
