The new iPhone 14 series, Apple Watch Series 8, AirPods Pro, and other products will be unveiled at Apple's Far Out event later tonight. Apple needs to deal with some bad news despite the optimism. In Brazil, the selling of iPhones without chargers is prohibited, and any further sales won't be permitted until Apple takes care of the adapters.
Brazil forbids iPhone sales The sale of iPhone 12 and subsequent models that don't come with a charging adapter in the package has been halted by a Brazilian court decision. Previously, Apple had received a BRL 12.275 million fine from the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security (roughly Rs. 18 crores).
The penalty was issued because Apple wasn't giving its consumers full items. The Brazilian minister also charged Apple with intentionally using "discriminatory measures against customers." In 2020, Apple discontinued including charging adapters with the iPhone 12 as part of its aim to reduce e-waste and carbon emissions.
The Brazilian government, however, has dismissed Apple's claim that selling cellphones without a charger does not actually protect the environment. The Brazilian court injunction comes soon before the release of the iPhone 14. Apple is rumoured to forego the charging adapter for the future iPhones, just like it did for earlier generations. The availability of the new iPhone 14 variants in Brazil is yet uncertain.
