The Apple Watch Series 8 debuted recently, together with the Apple Watch SE (2nd Generation) and the Apple Watch Ultra. The dual-core S8 system in a package powers all of the wearables (SiP). According to identifying codes, the S8 processor in Apple's next wristwatch is claimed to have the same CPU as the S6 and S7 chips. However, certain adjustments may have been made to accommodate new functionality such as Emergency SOS and crash detection. Apple's new smartwatch models will be available for purchase beginning September 16.
According to Twitter identifying codes, the CPU of Apple's S8 SiP, which powers the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE (2nd Generation), and Apple Watch Ultra, has the T8301 identifier. This is the same CPU found in the S6 and S7 chips used in the Apple Watch Series 6 and Series 7 models.
However, it's possible that Apple tinkered with the S8 SiP to accommodate new features like Emergency SOS and crash detection, as well as sensors like an accelerometer and a gyroscope. In fact, the Apple Watch Ultra model has a depth gauge as well as a water temperature sensor.
In the case of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, both devices are powered by the same Apple Bionic A15 SoC that was used in last year's versions. However, Apple claims that the new models outperform last year's offering in terms of performance. The SoCs in the iPhone 14 models include a 5-core GPU, up from a 4-core GPU in the previous year's offering.
The Apple Watch Series 8 is the company's eighth edition of its smartwatch range, and it will be available in GPS and cellular varieties. Apple also introduced the second iteration of the Apple Watch SE, a replacement to the low-cost device introduced in 2020. According to the business, the Apple Watch Ultra can last up to 36 hours on a single charge, has an aerospace-grade titanium body, dual-frequency support for GPS algorithms, and comes with a new Action button that can be programmed to execute numerous duties.
