Apple's hardware subscription service has been in development for some time and became known after being mentioned in a March 2017 Bloomberg story. A few months later, the same source now asserts that testing is presently taking place for Apple's hardware subscription service, and that it would be unveiled by the end of this year or early in the following. Instead of buying Apple hardware altogether, customers will effectively be able to subscribe to it through the subscription service. Customers can upgrade to a newer iPhone model when it becomes available, but they must pay a monthly fee.

According to Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter, the programme is anticipated to operate quite differently from Apple's current iPhone Upgrade Programme, which essentially allows customers to spread the cost of an iPhone over 12 to 24 months. The new hardware subscription service will be considerably different because users would have to pay a monthly cost (similar to Apple Music subscription fees) in order to use the gadget and would then be able to upgrade to a new model when a new one became available.

Gurman claims that Apple is still in the testing phase of its brand-new hardware subscription service and is figuring out how to include its Apple One bundles into it. The insider further asserted that Apple's new service would not have been announced at the debut of the iPhone 14 since it would have required a whole different method of purchasing an iPhone. Instead, it would have been introduced later this year or early the following year.

It is yet unclear how many Apple devices will be covered by this subscription service and whether Apple's Mac ecosystem will be included. The cost and the small print that distinguish between owning the equipment and merely utilising them are also crucial. The monthly charge would also depend on "whatever device a user chose," according to Gurman's newsletter.

According to a previous study, Apple should profit from this new hardware subscription service because it is predicted to generate more revenue than the typical selling price of an iPhone. Apple should benefit from this as it consistently introduces updated models of significant devices. The consumer benefits from a new, updated device at a lower price and avoids having to pay the whole price for a new device all at once.
