According to market research and analyst firm Techarc, sales of luxury smartphones would soar this year in India, with the number of iPhones set to surpass 7 million (70 lakh). A total of 162 million (16.2 crore) smartphones, including iPhones and Android smartphones, are anticipated to be sold in the nation in 2022. According to the research organisation, sales of iPhones have increased 140 times since 2008, while those of Android handsets have increased 49 times during the same time period.
According to a report co-authored by market research and analysis firm Techarc, sales of Apple's iPhones have increased steadily over the past 15 years. Punjab, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala have the highest percentages of iPhone users among Indian states and union territories.
In contrast, India's whole smartphone market has increased 47 times since 2008. According to the survey, Samsung is the only other company to have entered the area, and Apple's iPhones control over 80% of the premium smartphone market in India. However, other smartphone manufacturers like OnePlus, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Google are making every effort to enter the market.
Despite not being a mass-market smartphone, the iPhone has still received "amazing affection and acceptance in India," according to Techarc. The company report also noted that in the previous six years, iPhone's user base successfully increased by 10 million (1 crore).
A new lineup of smartphones and other devices were just presented by the Cupertino-based tech behemoth on Wednesday. Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 series cellphones at the "Far Out" event; they will go on sale starting on September 16.
