Microsoft's acquisition of Activision is anticipated to face a UK investigation after Microsoft failed to give remedies to alleviate competition concerns. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) stated earlier this month that the American tech giant's purchase of video game producer Activision Blizzard might harm competition in gaming consoles, subscription services, and cloud gaming. The transaction is also being investigated thoroughly in Brussels. The EU is expected to take its time reviewing the agreement.

According to a recent Financial Times story, Microsoft's $75 billion (approximately Rs. 5,97,420 crore) acquisition of Activision is being investigated thoroughly in Brussels and the United Kingdom. The probe is said to be in response to rising worries that the contract is anti-competitive and may prevent rivals from obtaining Call of Duty.

The CMA is expected to open an in-depth probe into Microsoft this week, after the American tech giant's decision to proceed with the transaction without offering any remedies to alleviate competition concerns at this time.

The CMA of the United Kingdom is the first worldwide antitrust agency to warn citizens about the risks of the transaction. The CMA has allegedly given Microsoft five days to come up with solutions to issues, failing which Microsoft will face an extended investigation.

The EU probe, as previously said, is anticipated to take some time. The Microsoft-Activision transaction is also rumoured to be under investigation in Brussels.
